Thank you for your interest in our company. The Vacation Company was founded in 1987 as a short-term rental and property management company on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Our rental properties are located on the southern half of Hilton Head in the communities of Sea Pines, Shipyard, Forest Beach, and Palmetto Dunes. We manage over one hundred quality villas and fifty custom homes.

During the last five years, we have been one of the fastest growing management companies on Hilton Head. We are proud of our continued expansion even in these times of national crises and weak economic conditions. This is because we understand that our most important asset is our service to our owners and guests.

Bob Hawkins and Beth Henzler are long-time Hilton Head residents and the owners of The Vacation Company. Beth is a 15 year resident of Hilton Head with a retail marketing and interior decorating background before joining The Vacation Company ten years ago.

Bob has been a resident of Hilton Head for 25 years. After a career marketing computers for IBM, he joined the Sea Pines Associates in 1986 and was a leader in the purchase of major property assets from the bankruptcy of the old Hilton Head Holdings conglomerate. He then served as director of marketing and resort rentals for the Sea Pines Company until he purchased The Vacation Company in 1992.

In 2002, we added over one hundred luxury villas on the Caribbean Islands of St. Martin and Barbados as vacation destinations for our guests. These gorgeous homes are located on two of the most popular and largest islands with beautiful beaches and a myriad of activities. They are also easily reached by air with direct flights from most East Coast cities. We now offer sunny island holidays for all seasons throughout the year.

There is a credit card security deposit for all guests. Owners are not charged for damage repair as the guests are responsible.
We make on-going suggestions to owners on décor enhancements that will add to rental revenue by satisfying guests.

Advertisements in 15 major newspapers and AAA magazines in our major guest markets in the Midwest, Northeast, Southeast, and Canada. There is increased ad frequency within the 500 mile drive market (Atlanta, Charlotte, Richmond, Knoxville)
Seasonal advertising in major travel magazines—Southern Living, Travel and Leisure, Travel Holiday, and Coastal Living. Each magazine links to vacationcompany.com and also e-mails labels for guests who have requested more information.
On-line availability and booking directly from the internet is becoming more popular. This is available from our Web site and is also available to owners who wish to inquire about the rental status of their property.
